"I love being at Tamaki Intermediate"

The first term at Tamaki Intermediate was very busy. I had lots to learn. I had to learn the names of teachers and the new students who enrolled at the school. The orientation booklets provided to us to work from, really helped us students know more about the school, and what it offered us. The first week was for us to do a lot of initial assessments and get into the routines of work.

Swimming lessons started in week 2 of the term. We learned freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke, butterfly stroke, dog paddling and correct breathing techniques. After the lessons we got a bit of free time to do fun activities. It was a lot of fun. On the last day of our swimming sessions some students got chosen to participate in the swimming carnival to have fun races. I was lucky to have been part of the exciting event.

In social studies we learned about Amazing Aotearoa-NZ. We had to make posters or booklets to present our research information. We had the choice of putting together the inquiry learning project in a way that we liked. It had to have information such as tourist attractions in New Zealand and how New Zealand is similar or different to other countries. We had to name some places that were of significance in the history of New Zealand. We also learned about NZ icons and heroes. I enjoyed doing my Independent Research Topic about New Zealand.

At P.E. sessions we have played midnight, line tag, softball and other active sports.

We have also done technology this term. The boys from Room 3 learned how to cook at food technology and the girls worked really hard at hard materials.

Being part of the media team has boosted my confidence in making movies, facing the camera and working behind the scenes. I love being at this school.

I feel very comfortable at Tamaki Intermediate. It seems like I have always been here probably because I have been having so much fun.
